At Tess McGuire Hatmaker based near Mendocino, in Northern CA, all my hats are knitted on a knitting loom from wool yarn. They then go through the hot cycle in a washing machine a few times to felt them. Once felted, they are shaped, allowed to dry, and brushed to finish them.
Caring for your hat is easy. Felt is naturally water-resistant and will keep you dry in all but the worst downpours. Don’t be afraid to wear it in the rain or snow. Other tips include:
Wrap a tape measure around your head. The tape should go over the top of your ears, resting right at the point where you want your hat to sit. Check your measurement against the chart below:
